It may be cold and wet, but there are still so many edible flowers you can grow to brighten up your meals. Well suited to container gardening, these are great on apartment balconies and workplace edible gardens. Why not start off an office garden with edible flowers?
I am super close to having my ‘edible flower guide’ all set to email out, and know the ladies who came to my @fortheloveofbeesnz workshops in May are expecting this any day. Sorry for the delay!
If you’d like a copy, please send a message, I’ll add you to the list.
If you hop on my email list you’ll also get a list of the resources I have available, lots of these are workshop notes I’m sending out to just keep spreading the word that gardening can be simple, fun, cheap, nourishing, chemical-free, zero waste and community building.

Seed raising mix. Often sold in little plastic bags. Frequently understood to be the magical component in successful gardening.
Here’s a wee secret, shared with me by the team at @pakaraka_permaculture — the secret to successful seed raising is not all in the soil. It’s about light, warmth, moisture, as well as how seedlings are handled. I would add in whether you talk to your plants in a positive way. 💫
However you choose to grow your seeds, please consider ditching the ready made mixes and start your own blend.
Where to get these three ingredients? Try calling your local landscape supply store, they will often sell by the bag and let you fill your own reusable bag/box/bucket.
