From Marc about this image:
Here is a photo from a few years ago. This was probably the most fortuitous photograph I've taken. This was shot high on the edge of the 100 mile Comb Ridge in southern Utah.
I was spending a few days exploring the area with a friend for the first time. We drove down a dirt track off of the main road which parallels the ridge. There we encountered someone's sheepherder hut that they had masterfully backed into a tiny parking spot with their massive pickup truck.
Being intrigued by the hut I knocked on the door and a girl opened up. She gave us a tour of the structure, told us the story of how her grandfather had built it and took her on many camping trips in the area. She pulled out old newspaper clippings showing her young grandfather and the sheepherder hut.
Since she had been there before we asked her for some hiking recommendations. She gave us directions to what she said were "some petroglyphs on the ridge” and didn't say much more.
Well we hiked up and we blown away by the artistry we found in such an isolated place. We both quickly realized the milky way would be easily visible. So we hung out and played with potential compositions until the sun went down. I took a photo of the milky way and we waited a few more hours until the moon rose, passed overhead and illuminated the rock art and the desert. One more photo was taken.
We stumbled back to camp early morning and the girl was gone. I never got to thank her for pointing out this beautiful place.
Two photos, 30s f/2.8 ISO 3200 blended in PS.
Ancient Sky - Time Is An Ocean 7". This single offers two new tracks that find Ancient Sky's strain of searing psychedelia burning brighter than ever. Ancient Sky, who for those who are unfamiliar with this band , contain ex-members of Meneguar, Woods, Verse En Coma, Majority Rule, Darkest Hours, Ghastly City Sleep and Little Gold. With enough past bands to know the quality of music they can create, this is their latest releasee which takes cues from heavy psychedelic rock including trippy riffs and their love for stoner vibes from the 70's. Fun listen. THIS IS THE LIMITED BLUE VINYL VERSION WHICH IS LIMITED TO ONLY 100 COPIES! #ancientsky#deadbeatrecords#deadbeatrecordsmailorder#deadbeatrecordsandmailorder
