“SHOULD I JOB HUNT OVER THE HOLIDAYS?” A lot of people have been asking me this, so here are some points to consider.
1. THIS IS PRIME TIME TO BEAT THE COMPETITION
This time of year, most people just want to kick back and relax. Leave career stuff 'till January.
If you do this you’re shooting yourself in the foot.
That’s because just as you might be dreading having to start the New Year fighting for a treadmill at the gym…
Come January there will be way more competition for jobs as other professionals get back into gear. (Side note: When you see everyone else doing something, that’s a red flag to look for an alternative approach.) 2. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HOLIDAY VACANCIES
Following up on the above, choosing to work when others are on holiday will nab you some awesome opportunities.
I’ve gotten a number of positions in December simply because others were off duty.
Despite starting as short-term gigs, I was offered to stay long term. Definitely worth it!
3. FIGURE OUT YOUR CAREER DIRECTION
A lot of people like to take this time to get in touch with what they really want in their life.
Taking the time to choose your money, impact and lifestyle goals is an excellent use of your holiday time.
Obviously setting a goal won’t make it materialize. You need a plan as well as commitment and the urgency to take action (otherwise you'll end up in the same place in 2021.) Hmm lagi banyak kerjaan terus tiba-tiba sakit dan tidak bisa masuk kerja dalam waktu lama?
Waduh pasti bingung ya gimana izin ke kantornya, gimana kira-kira reaksi perusahaan, belum lagi biaya berobat yang mungkin tidak murah, dapat gaji ga yah selama tidak masuk kerja?
Lagi sakit kepikiran ini itu bukan sembuh, bisa jadi malah tambah lama sakitnya. Tenang saudara-saudara. Nih ternyata, berdasarkan pasal 93 Undang-undang No.13 tahun 2003 mengenai Ketenagakerjaan ada ketentuan untuk cuti sakit berbayar.
Tapi ingat ya, cuti sakit berbayar ini hanya bisa diberikan berdasarkan keterangan medis dari dokter yang merawat langsung apabila sakit yang diderita membutuhkan masa istirahat yang lama.
Jadi, cuti sakit berbayar ini bukan untuk lari dari tanggung jawab pekerjaan ya :D

No college degree? No worries — economists predict that opportunities for professionals without a degree will grow.
Job-search site Glassdoor compiled a list of 14 companies that don’t require applicants to have a college degree. Tech companies like Google, Apple and IBM are all on the list.
In fact, about 15% of IBM’s U.S. hires don’t have a four-year degree, IBM’s vice president of talent Joanna Daley told @CNBCMakeIt.
