In this picture, which moves does red need to make to escape and take the advantage? 🤔
Check out our website for the full Board Game Puzzle (and the answer)! Onitama is an abstract strategy game that is both simpler and more difficult than chess 😅
When you play a card to move one of your pieces, you have to pass that card to your opponent - so on their turn after next they will be able to move that way, too. But before then, you will receive one of their cards!
It's so hard to predict what the board will look like a couple of turns away even though the mechanics themselves are so simple. 🤯
This is our seventh #10days10cards post - today we are tagging another follower with some beautiful photos: @hungrymeeple 🤓!

✨Blackout: Hong Kong |❣️8.5/10 | 🎲 3 plays
Finally got to revisit this game after playing it once a year ago, and it’s even better than I remembered 🙌🏻 I just re-ranked my games on Pub Meeple for fun, and this came out as number 8. Sounds about right, but I'll have to see how it holds up replayability-wise.
This game is SO deep for what is a pretty straightforward set of rules. I don't recall many other games that give me more stress from all the things you need to consider in just a single decision (a good thing for a masochist like me 😅). Every action in the game is so interconnected and necessary to complete one another—there's nothing superfluous or tacked on, like a random ‘feed your worker’ action 🙄
I'm always a sucker for clever use of dice and cards, and this game has both in spades 👌🏻 Best of all, it's fantastic with just 2. Everything is just as good as with 3 players (even the area control), but it's a much shorter game (a little too short actually). A 2p game was 1-1.5 hours, even with a little AP here and there.
It's a multiplayer solitaire, but in this case it's actually a plus when it comes to downtime. Being so solitaire means that most of the game can be carried out simultaneously, which is a huge plus given how AP-inducing this game is. Sure, the gameplay isn't as smooth as other games because you're following a very rigid 8-step process, but the lack of downtime offsets that.
My boyfriend complained that it's too easy to modify the resource dice and expand to a different colour on the map because you can always spend 1 point for trucks to do so. He has a valid point, but I think the truck option is good for luck mitigation and tones down the game to just the right amount of restrictiveness. The game still asks you to be ultra-efficient, especially when scores have been so tight at the end. Spending 1 point for a truck may well be the difference between 1st and 2nd place.
Very keen to give Mombasa a go now—most of my group seem to prefer it over Blackout, but i've heard mixed opinions on Instagram 🤷🏻♀️
✨Newton |❣️7/10 | 🎲 7 plays
2p Newton with my boyfriend tonight! He got the early lead but I ended up winning from my end-game points, 107-100. Close game 😄
The different player boards really fascinate me. I’ve played with all of them now, and it’s interesting how they’re so simple, yet so game-changing. They’re not as cool and rule-breaking as Marco Polo, but playing by your board’s strengths is key to winning unlike some other games, where your starting player powers aren’t very important in the long run—Terraforming Mars comes to mind.
People say the book strategy is overpowered but I disagree. Sure, it’s a necessary part of your strategy that you can’t ignore, but going all in with just books doesn’t necessarily win the game because everyone else will be doing it too 🤷🏻♀️ It also depends on the map and tech track setup—those end-game points can be pretty high.
Still not a mind-blowing game for me, though it’s a top 5 game for my boyfriend for the exact same reasons why I’m not that big of a fan: it’s way too multiplayer solitaire and you can basically plan your entire game from the start. No tactical element whatsoever 😕 The tucking mechanic also doesn’t wow me, but he loves it because it’s such an important consideration in your strategy.
I’m always up for it though since it’s one of the few games he actively suggests, but I’m not dying to play it (Brass on the other hand... 😭).

I’ve never played Dungeons & Dragons before, but I wish I could! Sounds so creative and fun 🐉 If you had to design your own character, for any game of your choice, what would it be? Mine would be a teleporting cat-person who can also fly! 😆✨

La Casa de Caramelo
🕐 30 Minutos
👨👩👧👦 +8 Años
📝Phil Walker-Harding 🎨 Andy Elkerton, Klemens Franz.

Another well fought victory this past weekend for @hsslemon! The combination of Krystina giving her extra food, Erik stealing items and Gwen giving her a choice of items from the workshop was too much for us to overcome!
With 7 Research Missions, she pulled off the #Lander Planned Arrival victory 29-26-24! 🏆🤝
"We're All Bad in Someone's Story" -Thanos
Well Thanos is bad in Thanos Rising as you take on the roles of the Marvel heroes to stop Thanos from collecting all the affinity stones and defeating him.
In this cooperative game you will be chucking dice to recruit allies and defeat Thanos' minions. The team you build is instrumental as they will give you abilities and bonuses needed to defeat Thanos.
We had mixed feelings on this game. I (Bryan) didn't care for it as there are some issues with game mechanics and it does not scale with player counts while Chris loved the game. We review this game in episode 23 which landed today. Check out the episode as we have a lively discussion about it.

Swimming into Monday like...
This dude needs a name. Any ideas?
You should have seen my surprise when John laid this down on the table. “Is that a ~triceratops~?!” 😂 Fortunately, the next edition of Darwin’s Choice (Before & After, coming to Kickstarter November 5th!) is going to include more dinosaurs, because they obviously make awesome creatures.
