Sleds are far more than pushing implements for the lower body. Ive been exploring the corners of the @sorinex Root Hog Sled lately and have become a big fan of these two variations. First is getting multi-planar using the sled for rotation continuing the movement stepping through and second is purely frontal plane focused, loading laterally and finishing through.

Every athlete is different - you will find weaknesses in a range of areas. Once identified, address the issue. The hip complex is often overlooked, and with all of your locomotive movement deriving from the hip, it’s an imperative link to work on. We must expose the body to varying tempos, contractions and loads 🔥

🚨 CORRECT YOUR HIP SHIFT! 🚨

A hip shift is when the pelvis travels laterally and is also associated with one sided back, hip and knee pain.
The causes of a hip shift during a squat can vary, however, can be contributed to both a lack of stability and mobility in the hips (and even ankles). Having an adequate amount of both hip stability and mobility can limit and potentially correct the dysfunction.
Below are a few exercises to help with hip shift:
1️⃣ CAPTAIN MORGANS:
➡️ Stand beside a wall with stability ball at knee level
➡️ Squat down into a quarter squat position
➡️ Push the knee into the stability ball with hips leveled
2️⃣ STANDING HIP HIKES:
➡️ Stand next to squat rack on one leg
➡️ Hike the same side up towards the ceiling
➡️ Avoid putting all your weight on the outside of your foot
3️⃣ SINGLE LEG PALLOF PRESS:
➡️ Stand next to squat rack on nearest leg
➡️ Keep strength band pulled out in front of you
➡️ Press the band forward while keeping the pelvis balanced

Nationals for us is over. A great experience with many lessons learnt.
Plenty of first-times and more importantly alot of fun. Our girls held their ground as masters lifters competing at a senior level while our boys put up a solid fight in the highly competitive 81kg class.
Time for some time off and we go back to the drawing board for them and everyone else back at TG as we work towards ending the year off with a bang and full steam ahead into the next year!
