I can’t remember where I heard this first but the gist is that, “You should only take advice from people who are more successful at what you want to do."
It’s so simple, but it’s also challenging to follow because people have opinions on everything, and they’re often loudest when they really don’t know what they’re talking about.
It’s such an important life lesson to learn not to take business advice from your Uncle Phil who’s never owned a business in his life, but to take it from people who have the kind of business success you want to have.
Don’t take relationship advice from your perpetually single friend, take it from someone whose marriage you admire.
Just because someone else is sure that they’re right doesn’t mean you should listen to them!

Marketing is about having a deep understanding of your brand purpose + promise + people. Marketing is about creating value for those who share your beliefs. Marketing is about solving problems. Marketing is about telling stories that resonate on an emotional level with those you seek to engage. Marketing is about building relationships. And trust.🤗⠀
If you ever find yourself feeling the need to put down another’s product, service or concept to make you feel better about your own, take a moment and do a little intention check. What is the value of bashing, shaming or shit talking another brand? Is that really the message you want as the foundation of your story? How does that really help you add value to your community?😞⠀
As one who has been doing this like, forever, I can tell you this... Your idea is likely not the “first”. Your concept is only the “best” for those who see value in it. As the awesome Simon Sinek says, start with why. And if your why includes bashing or shaming another brand, I am gonna challenge you to take a step back and start over. And dig deeper.😌⠀
Cheap shots are just that, cheap. Rise above. Go high. And yes, it’s a lot harder. But you are smart, kind, strong and capable.🥳⠀

Do the work, do it consistently, and try to do it with a sense of adventure and gratitude, Because no matter how you slice it, we are lucky to be doing the work in the first place!

I got a HUGE compliment the other day that has had me on a high ever since. One of my social media clients shared with me a message she got from a friend. Her friend was raving about her social media and literally used the words "ON POINT" when describing her social media lately! It made me feel SO good!
My only goal when working on my client's businesses is to provide exactly what they're looking for. I want to be the voice they would be for their own business. I want to portray the image that they're looking to portray. I never want to take it over and have it be my own voice, so the fact that I got feedback that not only is SHE happy with what I'm doing, but people in her life can recognize what I'm accomplishing was HUGE.
