So what are some signs you are not getting enough rest?
Well thankfully our body is a great messenger, however, we don’t always hear the messages or know how to listen.
Using weight lifting as another example, let's look at some signs that you might need some rest and recovery.
Your muscles might be sore, you may feel like you need to stretch, you are out of breath or you feel like you need to lay down and breathe.
These are all pretty common signs and signals our body gives us. But what if we don’t listen? This is where injury can set in. We keep pushing through the soreness and exhaustion and next thing you know it, you have a muscle strain, muscle tear or even broken bones. (This has happened to me many times!) This is your body telling you that you are putting too much stress on your system and that you need to rest and recover.
If you don’t do it yourself, your body can force you into it through injury and illness.
Now, take some time to reflect and think about areas of your life that this is happening.
When you go about your day, take time to check in and listen to the signals your body is giving you. Be it a headache, pain in your stomach, fatigue, or any kind of discomfort.
Then ask yourself, what is my body trying to tell me.
Think about what you are doing, who you are with and what you are thinking about.
Can you connect any of these to what your body is telling you?
It can be difficult at first, however, when we take the time to listen and reflect on what our body is trying to tell us, it gives us a guide into what changes we need to make in our lives to find balance and inner peace.
It helps to show us what we need to be doing more or less of.
How do you listen to the signs your body tells you?
