🔥 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🔥
I’m leaving Receipt Bank! 🤭
I teased this a while ago, but as my last day is quickly approaching, so now is a good time to break the news and answer some questions 😆
The people and culture here is amazing and it was a tough decision to make, but having ran my own company for five years before this role, that itch has slowly been creeping back... and it’s now time to scratch it 😎
WHAT NEXT? 🚀
I’m going back to being a full time founder, focusing on @thisismodest and taking time to build my own (commercially viable) SaaS products... more on this later!
BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR DESK?! 🖥
I’m gonna miss it for sure! The silver lining here is that I’ll be working all over London and will be sharing a wider variety of work spaces and setups... plus, I need to update my home setup so a little shopping trip is in order 💸
I’ll be sending an email out to those signed up to MarcusMail (link in bio) with more nitty gritty details that I don’t tend to share on Instagram (like how I’ll be financing myself, what I needed to do before giving up my full time salary, and in-depth progress updates) 📨

How important is it to set goals for yourself?
I actually never did this until about 2 years ago and since then I literally plan everything I do out. There are so many reasons why taking 20-30 mins out of your day to plan goals, what you need to get done or achieve over a time period can be so beneficial.
I find that just by writing these down, you put it into your head and start to think about it more until you actually get it done and in a way it is making you more accountable for making sure you do actually tick everything off the list.
Goals are especially important when working on a project by yourself or with a couple of mates. The management of the project is likely to be relaxed and so by having a list of objectives (maybe even attached to a deadline) you are able to get together some sort of plan that will help you work through to reach milestones and eventually get the version that you are working towards, finished.
I know from experience how important that can be, as many times before planning I would finish something and then spend too much time fucking around and working out what my next objective should be. Having a clear plan keeps you on your path and this is very necessary with a personal project where you don't have the luxury of a project manager.
