5 Things I learned from acting broke:
💵 1. I didn’t need nearly as much as I once believed I did.
💵 2. You can get crazy far in life if you know where your money is going.
💵 3. Spending less is one of the most common habits of the most wealthy people
💵 4. Acting broke and feeling broke were two totally different things. Acting broke and paying off debt felt amazing and intentional. I had a purpose. Feeling broke was spending whenever I wanted for 5 minutes of joy.
💵 5. I don’t want to act broke forever. Balance has been the key to my best life and my best finances 🙌🏽
Thank you @cindysbudget for this post!
🚨 We’re breaking ALL the rules🚨
Not really, but we definitely don’t follow some of the popular money “rules” some of the financial gurus talk about especially when you’re paying off six figures of debt.
1️⃣ We contribute to retirement while paying off 6 figures of debt
2️⃣ We are not gazelle intense and we’re 100% okay with that
3️⃣ We have expenses we value in our budget that aren’t needs but wants
4️⃣ We use credit cards for 98% of our purchases.
We can do things differently and still reach our goals. We have systems in place to stay on track. Don’t be afraid to create your own path and figure out what works best for you.
The doors for my group coaching program close on Tuesday! This LIVE coaching experience will help you reduce financial anxiety, understand why and how you make financial decisions, and help you create systems so you can crush your money goals. The doors won’t reopen until April. DM me for more information🎉

Listening is HARD. Listening well is even harder. Every time I sit down with a client it’s a chance to practice listening well. It’s all too easy to let the words someone is saying be missed because I’m too busy thinking of what to say next (anyone relate?! 😬)
Having a financial planner should be having someone join you in journey of life in all its high, lows, unexpected plot twists and messiness. But I can’t learn about what truly matters, or the issues at your heart if I can’t listen.⠀
The phrase I love to hear is something along the lines of ‘’sorry I’ve just spoken for a really long time...’’
That means the practice of shutting my mouth, opening my ears, and listening to your story is working.⠀
It’s only from your story that my job can really begin 📖.

Lists lists lists. Who loves lists? I know I do!🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
I have lists for everything. From shopping lists, lists of movies/TV series’ I want to watch, a ‘want’ list and many more. The most important lists I have are my to do lists as they keep me organised. .
I have three main lists (which all come from one list really). Firstly, I have my main to do list which I call my ultimate to do’s. Each time I have a brainstorming session or each time I have a thought that I must do something, I add it to this list. I have it broken down into categories to keep me motivated rather than having a massive list. These categories are: Personal, Car Care, Career, Self-Care and Household Chores. This works very well for me as I can focus on one category at a time if I choose to.
The second list I have stems from my ultimate to do list. It’s a note on my iCloud notes, which is accessible anywhere I go as I can access it on both my laptop and phone. This is technically a weekly to-do list, but it’s broken into specific days. This gives me an overview of what I want to do each day of the upcoming week.
The last list I have stems off the second one and it’s simply a daily to do list. Personally, I prefer to physically write this one out. I have a separate list book for this which I bought for £1 in Poundland (I have a purple and a grey one). This notebook keeps me motivated as I find satisfaction from ticking off completed tasks and this almost becomes an obsession. .
You may be thinking that’s a lot of lists, but it’s what keeps me focused and I need these lists in my life or I wouldn’t feel organised.

Debt can cause high blood pressure and insomnia. Get out of debt permanently through financial recovery. Click on the link https://buff.ly/2RWg1GJ to know more #financialrecovery#moneygoals #financialrehabpic.twitter.com/CLubigwEaG
If you’ve ever felt stuck in a rut with your finances, relationships, career or life in general, you’ll know that finding a way out by yourself can be difficult. Moving into 2020 with a solid vision for your year, your future and your life is the first step in breaking through the barriers that have held you back.
The Silent Thief - Lifestyle Creep.
Lifestyle creep is the biggest reason the majority of people WITHOUT low incomes still live paycheck to paycheck.
Lifestyle creep is the steady increase of expenses as your income rises.
Little by little, your spending increases incrementally while you barely notice it.
You go from buying the ₹ 100/Kg apples to the ₹ 250/Kg organic apples at Whole Foods, even though any apple is healthier than the majority of the junk you normally eat.
That ₹ 150 difference seems harmless or insignificant, right?
But then you upgrade your car and you think the increase of E.M.I by ₹ 5000 a month isn’t a big deal.
You didn’t even consider that your car insurance will also go up, and similarly the car maintenance will also be more expensive.
Suddenly you start buying nicer shoes.
But the changes are so gradual and you quickly adjust and get used to the nicer things so you barely notice.
Until it's too late.
The only way to avoid lifestyle creep is to be aware about your finances.
Your current Earnings, Your Current Expenses and Your Current Savings.
Aim for increase in Savings.

83% of us expect our KiwiSaver to be invested responsibly. But if you've ever tried to find a good ethical fund, you'll know it's not as simple as it sounds.
For one thing, everyone has different ethics. For another, companies report on different things in different ways, because there's no legal standard on how to report ethical issues.
There are always clever people around to help on this though, because frankly, our lives are too busy to spend weeks and weeks combing through it ourselves.
So today’s Cooking the Books is all about what you need to know to sort out an ethical fund. “How to tell an ethical KiwiSaver from a greenwashed one” is on Herald Premium now, or if you subscribe on Spotify or Apple podcasts, the audio will drop there for free in a week 🤑

This book has some inspiring stories of people earning to give, they've chosen to pursue high paying careers, in finance for example, so they can donate 50-80% of their income without it impacting their quality of life. I am really interested in exploring this 'earning to give' concept once we reach FI.
GiveWell.org has a list of the charities they deem most effective, so if you wanna make sure your dollar is saving the most lives, check them out.
As a vegan it was nice to confirm that the most good you can do for animals is to reduce your consumption of animal products as factory farming is responsible for the greatest amount of animal suffering. A simple lifestyle shift is more effective than donating to an animal rescue and its something you can start doing now, for free, and it will also benefit your health and the planet.
Has anyone read this? What were your thoughts? I've already put Peter Singer's other books on hold at the library! 🤣

Happy Data Privacy Day! Just wanted to share tips from a read earlier today! We spend alot of time preparing and depositing; also be sure you are 💪🏾protecting and 🙌🏾securing!
My task for the week is getting my passwords synced in my password vault! How are you owning your privacy this #dataprivacyday?
I almost had a lapse in my no spend January rules last night. I spent the day heaving furniture and boxes up two flights of stairs to help my daughter move into her new flat. I was absolutely exhausted! I had almost decided I was ringing the Chinese takeaway when I remembered I had defrosted chicken and, although I was shattered, I had a curry kit that could be thrown together in ten minutes. That’s why I keep some easy meal options in. It was delicious and I enjoyed it much more knowing I didn’t spend loads buying unhealthy food! I have been pretty solid with not spending this month, so I’m glad I didn’t succumb. How’s your month going?

If you had invested 10,000 naira in cryptocurrency as at 2012, you would have reaped 3million naira as at that year.
This is because in 2012 after bitcoin's first block reward halving, Bitcion experienced a 30,000%+ increase ( a 300 + multiple increase on investment in 16 months.
10,000 naira investment became 3,000,000 naira.

We educate and teach you how to position yourself for the coming bitcoin reward halving
The #1 question I get is....⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do I start?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have even created a whole printable guide to getting started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You have to know how much you make and how much you have been spending. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn't matter if you make an irregular income, get paid biweekly, weekly, monthly, sporatically or whatever. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You still have to know where to send your money and when.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The "when" part is very important. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have always budgeted by paycheck. It just makes it easier to know what to spend on what and when. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, if you get paid all over the place, do a weekly budget. You have to know what bills to pay and how much to spend on food, gas, and extras from each check. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can't spend the entire monthly budget on day 1 of the month. It just doesn't work that way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Get the FREE beginner's guide by commenting "YES" below!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Other than thee epic 0 monthly fee account (coz, that’s kinda awesome already)!

Your energy speaks louder than words and it's on *you* to take responsibility and care of your energetic state.
It's your point of attraction. It matters!
I suppose you know.
I also suppose you know how to do that.
After all you're not new to the world of self development, spirituality and the concept of Law of Attraction and other universal laws.
The question is:
➡ Is it "just" knowledge, or have you embodied it?
Is that how you operate, vibe and attract in this world?
That's where the big shifts happen.
✨ Life starts to flow effortlessly and with more ease
✨ You feel safe, supported, excited and blessed
✨ Life works for you and through you
✨ You experience abundance on new heights and different levels
Having this new state of being and operating deeply activated within you.
And that's what we'll do and practise in my upcoming Abundance & Money course.
Not just knowing it.
Raising your frequency and energetic state.
➡ Doors open on Friday with a special pricing over the weekend!
Ready for some embodied wisdom? 🤗

For some reason today I felt like I havent made any progress, or atleast not as much as I had hoped..
But I had to just sit on my phone for a little and just go over my accounts, I had a look at my saving and how my afterpay is looking and that actually made me feel better.. I may not be at the point where I can close down my afterpay account but I havent done any since before Christmas and I only have a few payments left until I can close it down🙌
Then looking at my savings accounts I have set up with @up_banking the first thing that made me feel better was realising I actually have savings in my accounts! Im not as worse of as I was at the start of the year and I am progressing forward!
So just a reminder that even through it might seem like you arent doing much to move forward just take a look at how far you've come! All those little steps really add up!
Maybe you’re finding it difficult to make some changes. (And if all is going well and you are feeling super about the adjustments you’ve made already this decade, you might not need to read further.) Most of us, however, struggle with dropping old habits and developing new ones.
If you read the blog post out last week, you heard that lasting change happens when married to habits, in small, incremental steps, and with gentleness… your skill for LOSING the all-or nothing thinking that trips you up and has you saying “well, screw this!” I call that AFI thinking and it can keep you stuck for decades.
But honestly, the list at the blog is not sexy. It’s more fun to hear that change can happen quickly and have amazing results and that it just takes more effort, and when the going gets tough (or your pants get tight) the tough get going. We feel like we’re doing something when we are sweating it out and resisting so hard!
Well, what if change could start with small, painless adjustments and compound over time (like your investment money!) ;-) It can. I’ll show you how. I needed a break.
A break from work. A change of scenery. A break from social media.
This weekend was important for so many reasons. I was able to spend alone time with Joe. I got to hang out with his family and learn more about his family history. I had time to read on the beach and just relax.
It’s okay to take a break. Honestly, I encourage it. Everyone needs a break. Even if it isn’t a trip, take a few hours for yourself. Go to a local park or coffee shop. Spend some time reconnecting with friends or your spouse. Go on a long walk or do something you genuinely enjoy.
Paying off debt is hard. Running a small business is hard. Having a completely opposite schedule from your spouse is hard.
I feel refreshed and focused. I am ready to help more people. I’m ready to get back to my client calls. I’m so excited for my group coaching program that starts this month.
If you feel like you’re burning out, tired or overwhelmed, I’ve been there. Many times. Take a break.
Taking a break doesn’t make you less motivated. Taking a break doesn’t make you weak. It means you value yourself and understand in order to help others you need to take care of yourself.
I’m here for you. If you need someone vent to, DM me. You’ve got this 💕
Are you pursuing riches or wealth?
It's an empty pursuit.
One of the greatest temptations is to live life and gain the whole world. We convince ourselves that having what we need and self sufficiency is top priority. The wisest and richest man of all, Solomon tells us it's not enough.
It's better to know that your brightest days aren't wrapped up in your financial storehouse. There is no magical equation that will bring you happiness. Joy comes from the Lord. Pursue your purpose, honor God with your treasures and live free from the deception of money satistaction.
What are your tips for being generous?
A couple of years ago I (Amber) was on maternity leave and money was tight. I didn't have a lot of money to donate to causes so I decided that I would find other ways to be generous with what I had. I started, once a week, doubling whatever I was cooking for dinner and giving it away to someone.
I could afford to do that.
Have you found ways to be generous? Let us know in the comments below.
