The Mojave this time of year is gorgeous in ways bordering on magical. Have you visited the high desert in winter? The lower angle of light can produce some beautiful long shadows and brighter colors in sunrises and sunsets that you won't find in the summer. We're not suggesting it won't be cold! Snow and sub-freezing temperatures are common in higher elevation areas, and even in some warmer areas a 30°F swing in a single day is not unheard of. So wrap up warm and venture out to appreciate the serenity of winter in the desert. 📷: NPS/Brad Sutton
Neon Coyote ✨🌵✨ is another one of the 6 hand signed Light Painting Print options available on my shop (we are nearly sold out of all of them!) Give the gift of light this Holiday, link in bio to shop.
This is around a 2 minute exposure, lit by hand using @lightpaintingtools that I design and create myself. This photo is straight out of camera and there are no special effects added.

At the end of every great rainbow is a National Park. •••••
Thanks to Cathy @briteeyes44 for the beautiful day. ・・・
The amazing shot I got of a Joshua Tree as a rainbow appeared in the background.🌈 Joshua Tree National Park is an American national park in southeastern California, east of Los Angeles, near San Bernardino and Palm Springs. The park is named for the Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia) native to the Mojave Desert. Originally declared a national monument in 1936, Joshua Tree was redesignated as a national park in 1994 when the U.S. Congress passed the California Desert Protection Act. Encompassing a total of 790,636 acres an area slightly larger than the state of Rhode Island—the park includes 429,690 acres of designated wilderness. Straddling the border between San Bernardino County and Riverside County, the park includes parts of two deserts, each an ecosystem whose characteristics are determined primarily by elevation: the higher Mojave Desert and the lower Colorado Desert. The Little San Bernardino Mountains traverse the southwest edge of the park.

More inspiration for THE HUMAN BODY, this time from past judge for the theme – the wonderful Mona Kuhn (@monakuhnstudio).
In her body of work Acido Dorado, Mona explores her close friend and collaborator Jacintha, interacting with the American desert. Set against the backdrop of the Californian desert, and photographed at the golden modernist structure Acido Dorado in Joshua Tree National Park, the images play with scale, reflectivity, patterning and transparency. The human figure emerges like a surrealist mirage, fragmented and dissolving into the hard desert landscape.
Her images, as is her modus operandi, use a controlled palette of colours, and drip with atmosphere, re-interpreting the genre of the nude.
