Lightweight brick slip systems are gaining popularity in the current construction market at a speedy rate, due to an ease, speed and accuracy of construction. The corners of curtain walling and traditional masonry were juxtaposed against each other forming a distinctive recess on building's facade. Perforated cladding on façade is often used as a prominent stylistic feature extenuating environmental and technological aspects of building’s design. However, there is often a question on whether the construction of mesh façades varies significantly from the conventional cladding panels. Perhaps, the shown detail answers this question by showing traditional rainscreen build-up of vertical rails and brackets fixed to the SFS studs. Fixed through the layer of non-combustible cement particleboard, the brackets are part of the robust interface with the secondary lightweight steel structure.
Performance of the mesh façade does not differ from ones of other cladding types when constructed with an appropriate build-up. This contributes to the notion of the versatility of rainscreen facades, rendering them as universal systems with adaptable components and features.

In today's post, we show a case of unitised cladding system fixed onto the steel section to form a protruding feature fin. The fin was to be a significant feature of the building and was the most representative of the architect's creative intent. On the scale of the building, the fin had played a key role in infusing unique character to the building's outlook. On the scale of the details, cladding units had dead-load and lateral supports, with the latter being fixed to the steel angle - between the structural post and the unitised cladding.
