Happy Humpday Friends,
the last days have been pretty intense!
I went Baden-Wurttemberg for the Campaign kickoff of Girls Change IT, had two beautiful #CodeWeekHH Scratch Workshops days and build a pretty awesome react/typescript love calculator at work. 🥰😁
Also the @SocialDevelopersClub got invited for the idea innovation in digital equality award which is pretty overwhelming for us!🤩🚀
So with everything going on I just wanted to say thank you, to everyone following my journey here. I love how we support each other and it makes me so happy seeing this community grow every day! ❤️

Yall - he is WALKING! he walks about 8 feet now with no one standing anywhere near him. He has had a few falls, a few short lived tears, but he gets right back up and keeps trying 💪🏻
I have been too busy cheering him on and wiping my own proud tears away to get a video yet 💚💚💚💚

James Baldwin--For nothing is fixed, forever and forever and forever, it is not fixed; the earth is always shifting, the light is always changing, the sea does not cease to grind down rock. Generations do not cease to be born, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have.

Children as young as seven are ruling out future career options due to stereotyping around their gender, ethnicity or class. That's according to a report from think tank the OECD, which found primary school children begin making assumptions about the type of people that enter particular types of work, and these assumptions only change minimally between the ages of seven and 17. Andreas Schleicher of the OECD said pupils need access to role models to help them see what they could achieve in the future. “You can’t be what you can’t see," he added. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-50042459
She Can Be aims to challenge those assumptions and break down barriers so that more young women see that the City and business is for them.

Maryland and America have lost a great man, an honorable man, a kind man, a just man and a warrior.” “Our children are the messengers to the future we will never see.” - Congressman Elijah Cummings “Diversity is not our dream, it’s our promise.” - Congressman Elijah Cummings
“I’m from Fayetteville, born in Fort Bragg and lived in Virginia for a little bit, but I’ve lived here most of my life. I was military… that was kinda the first big thing for me to do on my own. I did the army for 5 years. I was a fueler, an aircraft fueler, with one deployment under my belt. I got out of there and started working for Verizon Wireless and I worked for them for a good 3 years. I was laid off from Verizon and I had a wife, and during the lay off period I found out my wife was pregnant. After attempting to apply for job after job after job, no one was hiring me… no one was even interviewing me. I knew I was qualified, but I just couldn’t get an interview.
During all this time I hadn’t even touched a camera or anything, so I had no idea what I was supposed to do with my life because I was always working a job.
So, I operate in threes… when I hear something three times, that’s significant to me. Anything good that’s come into my life has always happened in threes, so, at this particular time, I had a person tell me a 9 to 5 job was not my path anymore. I was like ‘I gotta have a job, I don’t have any money!’ The second person said the same exact thing at a different place, and I said ‘ok, but I still don’t have any money.’ During this time I had volunteered for the WIDU station and I got a call from Rashawn Moore to come there and fix the music library because it was all over the place. Of course he said, ‘we can’t pay you’, but I said ‘let’s do it!’ because I love music. During that time, Mr. Wes Cookman, the owner of the station, saw what I was doing and called me out to his car and asked me ‘what do you want to do with this?’ I didn’t know how to answer that question. So, he said ‘ok… how do you feel about being trained to be the producer on the show?’ So, I said ‘ok’ and after one day and a half of training, I was on the board by myself doing that.
This all has a point… if I had never said ‘yes’ to Rashawn to go out there and do that, Vivid Kulture Media Productions (my current business) wouldn’t have ever... (Full story now posted to Facebook at FACES OF FAY)
