“Have no fear of perfection - you’ll never reach it.” - Salvador Dali
Hey everyone! :) If there is anything I know is that I am an extreme perfectionist (hence wanting to complete all of these images before showing you all).
As an artist, I’ve been taught that no one work of art is perfect. And yet critiques can imply that perfection is everything in art. When I was a student, I saw myself and other students working hard to complete art projects that would either get a good grade or meet our personal standards (that may or may not have been set too high).
If there’s any advice I could give to a current art student out there in the world, it would be to enjoy what you do. Critiques are meant to help you improve as an artist and a person. At the beginning, teachers guide you…but by the end of school you guide the teachers. They want you to take the lead in your creativity and in your work.
They want you to succeed. So don’t worry about being perfect - be weird. Be creative. Challenge yourself. And in the end, your art can only get better from there. :)
Anyhow, thank you guys for checking out my art! I can only hope that my advice can help at least one person :)
Now that I have posted a number of these works, I have come up with a series title: “Color Charged”. I hope you guys like it!
Have a great day!
