“THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD” & “ZORA NEAL HURSTON “
Collage/Acrylic on paper-9” x 12”
**About 2 weeks ago book publishers HarperCollins reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in doing a cover and portrait for their upcoming reissue of Zora Neal Hurston’s “Their Eyes Were Watching God”... I said yes!!!! What an honor! One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors!!! (Also didn’t hurt that they offered a considerable amount of money for this). So here is the cover and portrait of ZNH that has been approved by the publisher. If all goes well the book will be out and ready for purchase by Christmas!
I Give Thanks for this Honor & Blessing...

Brooklyn-based artist Rose Nestler @rose.nestler weaves magic with fabric. I absolutely love “The Hand That Feeds,” a soft sculpture from her recent two person show at Public Gallery. @public.gallery The piece is a commentary on the consumerist aspect of pursuing conventional beauty standards, yet, on the surface, immediately appealed to me given that my wife @nailjob is a nail artist. The vibrant folds of leather make this one of the most visually arresting pieces that I’ve picked up this year. The stellar service from Public Gallery was the cherry on top. A great way to cap the year! Swipe to see a clip and additional photos, including one of Fariha shaping the nails (she had just returned from work in her custom nail jacket, too). Amazing work, Rose! 💅
Both a #tbt and a nod to @pantone 's 2020 Color of the Year- Classic Blue, "a shade reminiscent of the sky at dusk; a color that anticipates what's going to happen next". Here's to great things to come!✨
