Palmer Adoption Fact: I really thought that after Lemmon’s adoption I knew how Honey’s would go. It’s all the same, right, 😉 Nope! I was constantly saying in the hospital “well, this is what we did for Lemmon’s adoption.” Or “But Lemmon’s birth mom did x y and z , so that should happen to, right?” EVERY adoption is different and that’s what makes each of their stories so special. Each birth mom is different, each birth father is different, each child is different, each core details are different. I relearned and am still learning how Honey’s adoption will go. Their stories are beautiful, unique and so different but oh so beautiful 💕

"We are all equal in the fact that we are all different. We are all the same in the fact that we will never be the same. We are united by the reality that all colours and all cultures are distinct and individual. We are harmonious in the reality that we are all held to this earth by the same gravity." -C. Joy Bell
Today I had to tell Eli about yet another human being who was shot by a cop. Only this time in her own home. While playing a video game with her nephew. I hate that my son's response was "Sometimes I just wish I wasn't black. It's not fair." I'm at a loss for words tonight. For him especially. Because it's the most unfair thing in the lives of so many and outside of the walls of my own home I feel powerless to do anything about it. The only sliver of hope I've got is a question that keeps resurfacing in my head that I once heard someone from the black community ask. "I wonder if transracial adoption isn't one of the single most significant weapons in the nation's quiver that will help to heal the wounds of racism and break negative cycles of poverty, violence and privilege in both black and white communities?" In a time where every story on the news makes me feel completely hopeless that this world will ever change, there's still this. The change that does begin with you and with me in our own homes and spreads to our children and then to the park and the playground and eventually out into a world where everyone gets to feel safe in their home.
We are powerless to rewrite the past of our country and even more so to reroute the path of it. But we can chip away at the barriers we see around us. I want to believe that counts. I want to believe that families everywhere whether they are sharing different genetics or not are blazing a path of love and togetherness for others to see and in the process, connecting us all to the larger picture of progress. It's an image I'm holding onto tonight while I hold my son just a little tighter.

Four weeks ago today we met Zion and became a family of three. I can’t believe it’s only been four weeks - feels so normal to have her in our lives, it’s like she was always ours. Adoption is so beautiful. I always said that - but it’s different to have experienced it personally. The way that she is so completely a part of our lives and family now - has given me a new understanding for the way God sees us so completely grafted into His family for those of us in Christ. What a gift. Thank you God for this blessing. | Also yes we are a little matching denim jacket family - at the Zoo today to celebrate four weeks together! #adoption#chinaadoption#adoptionisbeautiful#adoptionishard#worthit#journey#adoptionjourney#momlife#okczoo

#Society has wired our brains to think that #love is supposed to be in a box. That love is supposed to have #limitations or #boundaries or specific guidelines. In 1 Corinthians it didn't state that you should love as long as you love your own race 🤷🏾♀️ but it did state... "Love is #patient and #kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not #arrogant or #rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not #rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the #truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, #hopes all things, #endures all things.
If you don't like it, don't look! But it's not going to change anything! Hate is too great a burden to bare! I choose love, love wins! #AintNobodyFresherThanMyClick
I’m pretty sure both girls are better cheerleaders then I’ll ever be 😅 And I think Palmer has been on cloud 9 all weekend after Lemmon’s little performance at the game the other night 😂😍(watch our cheer/stunt highlights and you’ll find it towards the end 😄)

My Family thinks that every horse should have a loving home. There are about 200,000 horses in the US that are “unwanted” and many are in really bad situations (neglect, hoarding, abuse). That’s why My Family supports horse rescues. This Saturday in Madison, there will be 15 of my horse friends (in this picture) who were rescued and then trained by a volunteer trainer for the last 90 days. They will be available for adoption after the event. So if you’re in Madison, go see my friends at the Alliant Energy Center from 9am-2pm. The Parents will be there! I’m not allowed to go because I’m taken! #rescuehorsesrock#adoption#wisconsin#rescuehorses#midwestrescuehorsetrainerschallenge
I know this account is mainly about running, but I (like every one else!) have several different passions. One is to encourage and help people foster and adopt. If you heard my interview on “I’ll Have Another” with @lindseyhein626, we talked a little about fostering and adopting. •
Here’s an excerpt from an article I wrote for a church organization recently. I’m slowly figuring out how to translate this passion into a way to actually help people...
So if you’re interested in taking the first step to foster or adopt, feel free to reach out to me. If you’re in Texas, I can help find resources for you and explain the legal process. If you’re elsewhere, I can be your emotional support!

This week’s #watchitwednesday highlights a beautiful session from Jori Reid called “Motherhood Through the Eyes of Adoption.” The link to the full video is in our bio.⠀
We hope you’ll watch it and consider your perspective on motherhood and adoption. Perhaps your life is directly affected by adoption in some way. If not, you probably know someone who is. Either way, Jori’s words can help all of us to see how true motherhood comes in so many different ways. 💙
Is there anything that says fall more than corduroy?🍁 And they’re two of the best fall colors: olive and camel! Which color do you NEED? We love both!!❤️

My name's Dottie, & I'm about 1-year-old. My foster mom says I'm just the sweetest, mama cat she's ever seen.
I love sitting next to her (more often next to her than on her lap), especially when she gives me pets. I even give her little head bumps.
I bet you'll never guess what my favorite time of day is. It's dinnertime! Is that your favorite time of day, too?
Something else you may want to know about me is that I have impeccable litter box habits. I'm what you might call a perfectionist when it comes to that. You don't have to worry about me making a mess outside of it, that's for sure.
I get along great with other cats, but don't know what I think about dogs, yet.
In a perfect world, my forever home would be on the quieter side, & 1 where I can gain self-confidence, as I do love people, but am just a bit unsure of myself at times.
If this sounds like your home, let's meet!
Just fill out the Cat Matchmaker Questionnaire at WAALrescue.org/adopt!
#WAALrescue #Cat#Adoption *We're drowning in kittens & there's more who need us! (There's lots of doggos, too!) Will you help? Meet Kix, one of the dogs that will be available at the Police and Paws event at Tryst Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 18 8-10:30.
Kix's adoption fee is waived.
Officers Traylor and Officer Makic came down and met Kix. They fell in love but who wouldn't! He is a spunky senior who is 2nd Longest Longtimer. He has been at shelter since June! Lets find him a home!! His adoption fee is waived right now!
He does have some skin issues. He has hair loss looks like it could be from a sunburn of some sort. He has definitely had a hard life. His body has scars to prove it! But thats something a little love and medical attention couldn't cure!
Kix is super sweet though even with all he has gone thru! He loves to give kisses.Kix is great with people. He is a chill dog who just wants to be with his humans! He is very gentle.
Kix did well at his dog evaluation. He is considered dog tolerant so if you have a dog at home please bring your dog down to do a meet and greet with Kix. Kix's ID is #A4272759
